Quebec Immigration Programs
Since the province’s official language is limited to French, having an applicant pass through some of the immigration programs might require them to have French language fluency. The processing of the immigration applications includes stages i.e., selection and admission.
While the Selection stage is part of the Provincial level, the Admission stage is part of the Federal level respectively and the applicant needs to meet the criteria with respect to both stages individually.
Selection confirmation is demonstrated through a certificate de selection du Quebec also known as the Quebec Selection Certificate (CQS) issued by the provincial immigration authorities.
Quebec offers varied programs to suit the requirements and skills of the applicants, which include
1. Quebec Skilled Workers Program (QSW)
2. Quebec Experience Program (PEQ)
3. Quebec Investor Program
4. Quebec Entrepreneur Program
5. Quebec Self-Employed

What makes Quebec Unique?
Quebec carries a distinct cultural and historic background, compared to English Canada. The city of Quebec was established by a French diplomat and explorer Samuel de Champlain in 1608 along with his 28 men and claimed the region as a part of New France (a complete French territory).
The region was on the abandoned Iroquoian settlement (Stadacona), on the site as being directed by the Iroquoian tribes in their native language “Kanata” – from where the Canada name originates.
Quebec had already differed in terms of Cultural, Historical, and demographical forms compared to the rest of Canada and was further colonized to set the stage and implement the Francophone culture in the territories of New France (including Quebec) post the “Treaty of Paris” in 1793 (France along with ceding the New France sealed the treaty with the British). Further Quebec was assigned to serve as the capital of the English province of Canada (twice) which is today divided between the Quebec and Ontario regions and later integrated into the Dominion of Canada in the year 1867.
The integration of the Canadian Dominion and Quebec never was the same as that with English Canada, as the citizens of Quebec continued to firm on their language, legality, customs, and religion as imbibed by the French.
The year 1960 however, brought forward the birth of the “Quiet Revolution” the time during which the province was under the pressure of rapid changes. As a result of which in 1961 Quebec decided to establish ties with France, the UK, and the USA together democratically, but was interrupted by the federal government stating that only one Interlocutor could be done with foreign nations. This ignited debate in the regions of Quebec and the French Canadians coalition which led to the incorporation of Quebec’s Immigration department in 1968. It was also during the year 1968, Canada’s Immigration Policy witnessed an Upgradation – tiered system based on country of origin to the points–based system based on applicants’ skills, abilities, etc.
Quebec’s Journey over the years
If we look into the quick recap of the province’s journey over the decades, some of the major pointers would include the province’s concerns with respect to the french language, francophone culture, and nativity.
