Express Entry draws have seen a boost of activity over the month of May unlike April this year. In May, close to 2,511 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued across four draws and more than double the number of ITAs issued a month before.
Overview of Canadian Draws in May 2025
May was a bustling month for Express Entry draws. Not only was there a return to four draws over the month, but Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) also held a CEC draw after a complete three-month hiatus.
IRCC also held the first-ever Education category-based selection draw and the first Healthcare and social services category-based selection draw of 2025. The number of ITAs issued, and Comprehensive Ranking System cut-off scores for all the many draws are here:

In total, there were 3,409 more candidate profiles in the pool as of May 13, as compared to April 27.Note that the number of candidate profiles in the 501-600 range increased by over 1,300 since April 27.

Future of Express Entry Draws
The future of Express Entry draws will most probably continue to prioritize candidates with strong language skills, Canadian work experience, and those who have received a provincial nomination.
Though with the growing labour market Canada may also pivot toward targeted draws for specific occupations, such as healthcare and trades, reflecting economic demands.
