IRCC Conducts First French Language Express Entry Draw of December Issuing 800 ITAs

Immigration, Refugees and CItizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another Express Entry draw, issuing 800 Invitations to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. It was a category based selection draw, specifically held for candidates with French Language proficiency, and the eligible applicants needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 466.
This is the second Express Entry draw of December, followed by a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on December 2, 2024. In the month of November IRCC conducted a total of 6 Express Entry draws, issuing a total of 5,507 ITAs. The draws held continued to hold the trends for candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and PNP Canada streams.
Looking ahead, Canada鈥檚 new In-Canada focus category aims to prioritize CEC candidates and participants from 鈥渙ther regional programs鈥�. This could include those in the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
As per the latest Immigration Levels Plan, this category would receive 82,980 permanent residency admissions in 2024, representing over 40% of all planned admissions.
Francophone admissions are also expected to witness a growth with an annual allocation of 29,235 admissions allocated to French-speaking candidates outside Quebec in 2025. The number of ITAs for French speaking candidates is expected to increase further in 2026 and 2027, aligning with IRCC鈥檚 Francophone immigration strategy.
