What Happens If You Have Paid the Old Immigration Fee?
If you have submitted a completed online application before the fee increment took effect, the new fees will not apply to your application. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) processes online applications immediately, so your payment is considered complete at the time of submission.
For paper applications, such as Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) extensions, there is a possibility you may have paid the old fee if your application was mailed before the fee adjustment. In such cases, IRCC will generally not reject your application, provided that the below mentioned conditions are met:
- The old fee was paid in full
- The application submitted was complete
- The application was made before the fee increase
If IRCC receives your application and finds a fee difference, they will notify you with instructions on how to pay the balance.
